MY AMSOIL STORY
How did I get involved with AMSOIL? Well let me tell you something, If you would
have told me in the spring of 2007 that I would be selling
AMSOIL lubrication
products I would have told you that you were CRAZY. I had heard about
AMSOIL
products back In high school, I graduated in 1976. I have always heard good
reports on their products and always wanted to try them for one reason or
another I never was able to do that or find were to buy it. I was approached
last summer in 2007 and was given a DVD to watch entitled the
SUM
OF ITS PARTS << watch it here I was once again very impressed with the
company, and knew that I needed to use these products. I am a collector of Wheel
Horse Lawn & Garden Tractors, and I had just purchased one on
E-Bay and It was located in North Carolina, so I had a long trip to make from
Michigan to pick this tractor up. So before the long trip there were a few things that needed to
be done on my 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I needed to get a tune up, Oil change,
and a brake job. I knew I didn't want to get in the mountains in North Carolina
with weak brakes. After all the work was performed My mechanic and I went on a
test drive the brakes were fine but I asked him about a ticking sound which
sounded like a bad lifter, he said he had heard that tapping noise on many
Chryslers and not to be concerned, he then said I had more concerns with a growl
he heard in the rear end. Yes I replied I had been hearing that too! I asked him how much
that would cost for repair and the answer was between $600.00 to $800.00 what
needed to be done was new bearings in the rear end. We went back to his shop and
we checked the fluid level and all was fine. I told him that I would schedule
that repair at a later date, he said that I had between 6 months and a year
before it would get really bad.
So two days later on a Thursday in September 2007 off I went to North Carolina
to pick up this tractor. I stopped on the way to Indianapolis In. to pick up a
friend of mine to make the journey with me. When I was about 30 miles north of
his home, the engine in my Jeep sounded like it was coming un-done, I mean so
bad that I would wonder If I would even make it. I arrived at my friends home
and he made a statement like "Boy That Sounds Healthy" Yeah I said, how do ya
like that! Guess you should have got that AMSOIL!!
(His brother was the dealer who sent me the DVD). His question was are we still
going? I replied yes I need to pick up that tractor after all the gentleman in
North Carolina was nice enough to store it for me for a month in which time I
could make plans to pick it up. So the next morning off we went towards
Tennessee were we would spend the evening at a friend of mines home. We arrived
in Tennessee Friday evening and my friends mechanic buddy took a look at my
truck, after examining the situation he made the prognosis that it wasn't a
lifter I was hearing but rather a broken Wrist Pin on the connecting rod and the
piston! I asked him what was the chances of me making it back to Michigan? His
was reply was 50/50! Great like I needed to here that :(
The next day Saturday we picked up the tractor Engine hammering all the way. You
talk about a sick feeling in my stomach the whole way, being that far from home
with a failing vehicle is not my Idea of an enjoyable trip! That Saturday night
we stayed in Tennessee and the next morning we took off for home. Twelve hours
later after dropping my friend off in Indy I made it back home engine rattling
worse than ever. Since this was my daily driver I needed to either replace the
vehicle or get the engine fixed. The next day bright and early I was at my
mechanics doorstep bright and early I removed the valve cover and sure enough
the sound was definitely not coming from the upper valve train and he agreed
that he would have to agree with the prognosis given by the mechanic in
Tennessee. My question to him was what do you think? His reply to me was Bob you
have a vehicle with close to 170,000 miles on it, you know what I think! Its
either replacement of the vehicle or a new engine! He called for a price on a
new Jasper Engine.. After careful consideration I decided to go that route of
Installing a New engine because everything else on the vehicle was in good
shape. So I had my mechanic order the new engine. After all, after going through
such a battle on this trip I had even grown further attached to Ole' Bessie, Her
an I have had some great times together.
Immediately after ordering the new engine I went home and called
AMSOIL and signed up as a 1 year Preferred
Customer Cost $ 20.00 this allowed me to purchase products at wholesale cost, I
then ordered everything for my Jeep Grand Cherokee from front to rear, a case of
engine oil, 4 EAO42 oil filters, a case of ATF Transmission Oil and Wix Filter,
a case of severe gear rear end grease my thought was since I decided to keep
this vehicle I might as well protect my investment the best I could. I sat and
pondered that evening on what may I have done to prevent this from happening? I
received my shipment from AMSOIL two days
later on a Wednesday, the engine was already in my Jeep and I took my new fluids
down to my mechanic that evening. I had picked up a case of Valvoline oil
and since I had planned to do a couple quick changes with my
AMSOIL EAO42 filters I would do a change at 250
and at 500 then switch to the AMSOIL at
1,000 miles.
When I picked up my vehicle that Friday and went on a test drive I noticed that
the Transmission shifted much smoother. A week later he gave it another oil
change (I usually put 250 miles on my truck a week) and then two weeks later
after that at 1,000 miles we switched the engine over to AMSOIL. Right away I
noticed how smooth the engine ran with AMSOIL!
I then noticed that my RPM's at idle picked up from 750 at idle to 850 an
increase of 100 RPM. I thought about that for a moment and decided that there
was definitely less friction. I then ended up setting the idle down to
compensate and to reduce my idle back down to 750 RPM. The final thing I noticed
a week later which would now be a month into this was I remembered that I needed
to get my vehicle back in to get that rear end looked at................... Wait
a minute!!!! where's... that growl.... I used to hear? Immediately off went the
vehicles heater fan, rolled up the windows, and the stereo were turned off...
And I listened! No more noise in the rear end! I then called my mechanic and
told him that I had something to show him. That evening after work I took him
for a test drive, and he couldn't believe it himself. Like me he was shocked and
made some kind of statement like I would have never believed it if I hadn't seen
it myself!
That evening I called my up-line Dealer Dan and we discussed the course of
events that had happened. I told him that I was defiantly satisfied and how much
would it be to become a dealer? He said the cost would be $ 10.00 more per year
to become a dealer than a preferred customer. Well to me this was a small price!
"After All" I love products that work, and do what they claim! If I can help
someone make their vehicles last using AMSOIL
Synthetic Lubricants then that alone makes me feel good. I have now been a
dealer for 6 months and became T-1 Certified which is taking a test on
AMSOIL products and
knowing their lubrication lines. They are an excellent reputable company to do
business with and are top notch in my book. If you want to protect your vehicle
or maybe are looking for extra income, you would be doing yourself a favor to
get yourself Involved with this company. If you ever decide to be a dealer I
will personally train you and show you the Ins and outs of this business. I have
done many tests myself on their products, have sold them to my friends and
family, and I have received nothing but good reports back. They say satisfied
customers make good dealers! You can add my name to that list. There is a BIG
DIFFERENCE in Lubrication Products believe it! What was I using in my old engine
and the vehicle before I switched to AMSOIL?
MOBIL-1 "So They Say Nothing Outperforms Mobil-1" WRONG!
AMSOIL was the first in Synthetics since 1972
when Al Amatuzio introduced Synthetics to the Automobile Consumer Industry, and
